Lighting Upgrade | Wiltshire
Project Overview
Humphreys Electrical were contacted by Bell Fabrications to review the existing lighting within their manufacturing workshop.
The existing light fittings were 400w metal halide, low bay lights, which were 12 years old and not producing sufficient ‘lux’ level for the manufacturing environment.
The challenge was to design a lighting system that would not only give the required light levels, but to be energy efficient as well, without major alterations to the existing wiring.
Project Description
Our design included changing the light fittings for ‘Tamlite Energy Efficient T5 Fluorescent light fittings’ with high output, mirrored louvers and intelligent ballasts.
We also fitted covers to protect the louvers from the dust produced by the welding sets to aid cleaning and prolong the life of the light fitting.
The result is that the light output ‘lux’ level increased by three fold with the same number of light fittings which were connected to the existing wiring with minor alterations.
The result for the client is a lighting system that not only complies with the requirements for the working environment, but that also saves money and reduces the company’s carbon footprint!
The client has been measuring the kwh usage per month compared to the same month in previous years and their electricity costs have reduced by 12-14%!
The reduced electricity costs ensure that their investment in the upgraded lighting will be recovered within x years/months leading to significant savings over time.

Client Testimonial
Humphreys electrical have been looking after all our electrical needs for many years, so we were confident when we approached them with concerns regarding our lighting that they would come up with a solution.
Once again they have solved a problem with the minimum disruption to our operation and with the results promised in their design.
